01.20.09: Beware of scam artists. There are a lot of good companies out there, and there are a lot of bad ones. One of the biggest warning signs to look for in a "foreclosure prevention" company is if they charge you an non-refundable fee. Reputable companies charge nothing up front. They only charge their fee if they are successful in negotiating an acceptable workout plan.
